WBT… About how to make sure that you always have something to feel excited about!

What do you have to be excited about this day, this week, this month? If your answer is nothing, why is that?

Chances are, if you don’t have anything to look forward to right now, it’s because you haven’t made it happen. And if you haven't made it happen, it must be because you either really don’t want to or you really don’t know how. Because your choices reflect your intentions (conscious and subconscious.) If that’s got you like, whaaat?! then read on.

But before we get to that, maybe you can start by getting excited about prioritizing your self-care every day. About creating some things in your life that will excite your mind, support your body or soothe your soul.

Every day, I have a morning routine. Some of it doesn’t totally excite me but I do it because it’s good for me. Some of it really excites me and gives me something to look forward to every morning. This includes my cup of coffee with a big dollop of whip cream. It also includes my morning reading. Right now, I read a few pages of A Return To Love by Marianne Williamson every morning. This helps me to start the day with love in my heart. And this, THIS gives me something to look forward to each and every day.

Now sometimes, I like to think bigger and I make a plan. It might be having people over for dinner and a fire, a hike on the weekend, or a trip somewhere, like I’m doing this weekend. I know we all like to do fun things and we all like to have things to look forward to. But sometimes we get in a slump. And getting out of that will mean sticking to your daily self-care, dealing with the sh*t in your life, and making plans that excite you that you’ll stick to even if you’re not 100% feeling it at the time.

Now for your introspection. Here goes. Ask yourself:

  1. What’s my self-care routine, what have I added that excites me (as opposed to just serves me), and what’s my commitment to it?

  2. What are some fun, exciting, inspiring things that I would be excited about doing that are within my means? List three.

  3. Why don’t I do those things? What excuses do I tell myself for not doing those things? How is not doing those things serving me? How is not doing those things allowing me to think and feel? Why do I want that? What I’m I going to do differently?

There you go. Come on, let’s do this!
