Energy and Your “Vibe”

Do you know that you have a vibe?

You’ve definitely already heard that everything is made up of energy – your body, a rock, an apple, and a thought are all equally alive and real, they are just made up of different types of energy.

You may not consciously realize this, but we’ve all been detecting subtle energies throughout our lives. And energy actually permeates all space. The space between objects, even though it isn’t dense enough for you to see it, is also made of energy. And the energy of different spaces may have different feelings.

Consider what the space within a shopping mall feels like in comparison to a forest, just 500 meters away. The energy within the shopping mall is bustling, fast-paced, maybe impatient in a way.  The energy in a forest is very grounding, calm, basically the opposite of the mall.

Energy has a relatively high or low vibration. The energy of our physical bodies is relatively low vibration, which makes it denser compared to a thought, for example. Because a thought is so high vibration, and therefore low density, we can’t see it, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not there or that it’s not real.

This is the same principle that explains why you may be feeling cheerful and energetic when you’re on your own, doing something you love. But the second your sister or your roommate comes in after a long and stressful day or a fight with their partner, you’re suddenly feeling tense and stressed out as well.

High-frequency energy can positively affect lower-frequency energy. So your good vibe can be felt by others and it can affect how they perceive you and how they feel around you. Cool huh? And, not so cool, the reverse is also true.

Not sure if this is for real? Have you ever walked into a room and sensed negative energy that you feel like you could cut with a knife?

Do you have someone in your life that just always makes you feel good?

Have you ever known that something is going on in someone’s life without them saying so?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you know what I’m talking about. And if you know what I’m talking about, then hopefully you’re accepting that if you can “feel” others, they can “feel” you too.

So back to you, have you ever asked yourself what your vibe is? Do you think that whatever is going on in your life at any given moment affects your vibe?

Let’s look at some ways to make sure that what you think you’re putting down is what other people are picking up.

How to raise your frequency

It’s all about emotions.

Perhaps the most difficult to navigate part of the human experience is our emotions. And since our emotions dictate our frequency, we can’t raise our vibration without visiting our emotions.

While you surely know how your emotions feel, you may not know what they actually are. Really.

Emotions are lower level responses that create biochemical reactions in your body and alter your physical state. In clear language, they’re a response to an event or situation or thought that you feel in your body. Because emotions are physical, they can be objectively measured by blood flow, brain activity, micro-expressions and body language.

These create a frequency, a vibration, that can be felt by others also. The following scale of consciousness was created by Dr. David Hawkins and shows a spectrum of frequencies starting at the bottom with the lowest frequencies and is on a scale to the top, enlightenment which is the highest frequency.

What it’s important for you to know is that your vibration can be felt and can impact how others perceive you. You do tend to have a baseline emotion and knowing your baseline increases your understanding of how you show up, how you’re perceived by others. And, there are ways to increase your baseline and to deal with low vibe frequencies when you experience them.

So you have a baseline frequency, you likely have a higher frequency and lower frequency that you tend to go to when things are exceptionally good, or exceptionally bad. Now, you can change your baseline through regular practice and below are some ways to do that.

How to raise your vibration:

  1. Savoring and Gratitude – have a real practice and practice it every day

  2. Love – find reasons and people and things to love and feel it every day

  3. Generosity – when you give to others, time or otherwise, it raises your frequency

  4. Meditation and breathwork – going within!

  5. Forgiveness – frees you from so much negative emotion and raises your vibration

  6. High-vibe food – you feel good inside and out

  7. Eliminate toxins – as above

  8. Think positive thoughts – remember you are not your thoughts and you can change them

  9. Consume high vibe content and media – violence, degrading interactions, bad behavior are all low vibe content and affect how you feel.

  10. Surround yourself with beauty – whatever your definition is. A plant you love, a crystal you love, whatever. You don’t have to live in a palace.

  11. Spend time outside – play there or be there.

  12. Be sure your relationships are high-vibe – maybe the hardest because you can’t control anyone else but you can minimize exposure to the people in your life that bring you down.

Here you are at the end of this course 🎉. Excellent work, congrats for making it through. Remember this is a process, it’s not an overnight job. But if you choose to, every day, in every way, you can get better and better at being self-aware. You’ve already come so far. Just look at what you’ve learned about you. Keep going.

Key Takeaways:

  • 95% of us think we’re self-aware, less than 15% of us actually are

  • To be truly self-aware, you need to understand how others see you

  • Understanding our emotions and how they manifest in our reactions is integral

  • You can learn more about yourself and how others see you by analyzing your reactions and behaviors in a range of situations

  • Asking what, not why, will give you actionable insights

  • You can’t keep the same reactions and behavior and change how people see you but you can change your reactions and behavior and how people see you will change

  • Your frequency or vibe goes everywhere you do and people can feel it

  • You can change your vibe!

Take Action:

  • Be aligned in all that you say and do

  • Stay in touch with what you feel and how you think and what you do

  • Journal sometimes, ask yourself whatever you want to know about you

  • Watch for blind spots and beware the cult of self

  • Review and analyze your interactions sometimes, particularly the ones that didn’t go well. What can you learn and what can you change?

  • Keep asking for feedback, be curious about how you show up

  • Create a daily practice to raise your vibration

  • Do a personality test to understand yourself even better, arrange that here

Want more?  As we mentioned in the action items, another great way to understand yourself better is with a personality test. I recommend the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). This is one of the most studied and therefore most validated personality inventories available. This will help you identify your preferences – the way you prefer to gather information, get your energy, make decisions, and organize your world. This can really up-level your internal self-awareness and has the bonus of helping you understand how you interact with others and how others may see you.

You can find free tests online but these aren’t as comprehensive or as accurate as the full test.  It’s a good start though. If you’d like to do the full test, contact us at hello@soulaia.com to request a test to be emailed to you. Toni is a certified MBTI practitioner and she can facilitate the testing and do the review and interpretation with you. And if you want to go further, help you apply it in your life for your growth and well-being.

Additionally, the iNLP has a quick, free self-awareness test that will surely start you thinking and give you some insight. You can access the test here.
